MCITP Database Administrator 2008 Certification

  • Exam 70-450: PRO: Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Server Infrastructure using Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Exam 70-432
This examination has been upgraded for SQL Server 2008 R2.
Applicants should have 1 to 2 years of experience using SQL Server 2008 or 2 to 3 years of experience using a previous version of SQL Server. Applicants for this exam are IT professionals who have jobs, in which database administration is their core area of accountability, or they work in surroundings in which databases are central to their job roles. These job roles include the following:
  • IT generalists who work in environments in which SQL Server 2008 R2 is part of an overall solution
  • IT professionals who manage systems that run SQL Server 2008 R2
  • IT professionals who work with third-party applications that are built on SQL Server 2008 R2
  • Developers who build applications that use SQL Server 2008 R2
This examination computes your capability to achieve the technical tasks listed below. The percentages indicate the relative weight of each major topic area on the exam. The higher the percentage, the more questions you are likely to see on that content area on the exam.

Exam 70-450

This exam is under attacked at the professional level SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator. It examines your capability to make appropriate design and technology choice considerations for your SQL Server 2008 installations.

Applicants for this examination, work in an atmosphere in which Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is used for database solutions. Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience administering databases in an enterprise-level organization and designing, deploying, optimizing, maintaining, and supporting database service life cycle. Applicants should also have experience with the following:
  • Defining high-availability solutions
  • Data distribution
  • Automating administrative tasks (for example, checking db stats, backups)
  • Maintaining administrative tasks (for example, determining index rebuild time, file groups for backup)
  • Defining security solutions
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the database server
  • Performance optimization (for example, physical tuning, including hardware, operating system, instance-level tuning), PerfMon
  • Designing and executing deployments
  • Deployments and migration
  • Defining the infrastructure (for example, storage, hardware, and number of servers or instances)
This examination calculates your capability to complete the technical tasks listed below.

  • Designing a SQL Server Instance and a Database Solution (14 percent)
  • Designing a Database Server Security Solution (15 percent)
  • Designing a Database Solution for High Availability (15 percent)
  • Designing a Backup and Recovery Solution (20 percent)
  • Designing a Monitoring Strategy (13 percent)
  • Designing a Strategy to Maintain and Manage Databases (14 percent)
  • Designing a Strategy for Data Distribution (9 percent)
